ALPS / LHCb Upgrades

During the ongoing LHC long shutdown 2, in 2019/2020, the LHCb collaboration is performing a major upgrade of the experiment. The upgraded detector is designed to operate at a five times higher instantaneous luminosity than in Run II and it can be read out at the full bunch-crossing frequency of the LHC, abolishing the need for a hardware trigger. This talk will present an overview of the upgraded detector systems and discuss the physics reach of the upgraded experiment for selected physics topics. In addition, plans for future upgrades will be briefly outlined.
